I am deeply passionate about creating tenugui (Japanese hand-dyed cloths) using the traditional technique of katazome. In this process, specially treated paper with persimmon tannin is carefully hand-cut to create intricate stencils. The cloth is then stretched out, the stencil is placed, rice paste is applied, and once dried, the fabric is dyed.
This hands-on process brings me immense joy and serves as a source of healing and peace of mind. It also provides me with a sense of release from the digital world, offering me truly organic time that enhances my creativity and strengthens my performance as a designer.
I am honored that some of these works have been selected by a boutique in Hawaii, where they continue to share the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship with a wider audience.
私は日本の伝統技法「型染め」を用いた手ぬぐい制作に情熱を注いでいます。この過程では、柿渋で処理した特別な紙を精密に切り抜き、型を作成します。その後、晒を広げ、型紙を配置して糊を施し、乾燥後に染色します。この手作業が私にとっては大きな喜びであり、何よりも心を癒してくれる時間です。また、この創作活動はデジタルからの解放をもたらし、私にとってのオーガニックな時間を与えてくれています。そしてデザインにも良いパフォーマンスを発揮することができます。こちらの作品はハワイのセレクトショップでセレクトしていただいております。
