まつしたようこ YOKO MATSUSHITA
I grew up in the Japanese countryside, surrounded by fresh rice fields and vegetables, with an inventive father who loved the outdoors and a mother who was a skilled professional in dressmaking. This creative and healthy environment nurtured my sensitivity and fueled my dream of becoming a designer from an early age. From rice harvesting and mountain stream fishing to sewing and fashion, I was constantly inspired by diverse experiences.
With an early interest in English, I studied in an English department high school before attending a design college to learn the fundamentals of design. After gaining experience at an advertising agency, I joined a textile design company where I expanded my skills into both textile and graphic design. These experiences became the foundation for my independent career as a freelance designer.
Today, my design philosophy centers on creating work that contributes to the happiness of people, animals, and the planet. I focus on eco-friendly materials and ethical production processes, aiming to deliver designs that bring meaningful value to the world.
Outside of design, I am a passionate surfer who has enjoyed the waves of Hawaii, Australia, Indonesia, the Maldives, and Japan—and I’m looking forward to my next surf trip in Ireland. Swimming with sea turtles is one of my greatest joys.
In 2024, I founded the sustainable activity team “Plogging Rabbits” at Tottori Sand Dunes National Park, combining community action and environmental care.

田舎で育ち、新鮮なお米と野菜を日々の食事に取り入れながら、人並み外れた器用さを持つアウトドア好きな父と洋裁のプロである母の下で、健康的かつクリエーティブな環境で成長しました。自然豊かな環境での生活は、私の感性を磨き、幼い頃からのデザイナーとしての夢を育んでくれました。稲刈り、渓流釣り、ミシン、ファッションといった多岐にわたる活動に触れながら、常に新しい刺激を受けてきました。
英語に興味を持ち、英文科の高校で学んだ後、デザイン専門学校でデザインの基本を学びました。その後、広告代理店での経験を経てテキスタイルデザイン会社に入社し、テキスタイルデザイン業務のかたわらグラフィックデザインのスキルも習得しました。この経験を活かし、フリーランスとして独立し、現在に至ります。
デザインを通じて人々、動物、そして地球全体の幸せを考える仕事を目指し、環境に優しい素材選びや倫理的な生産プロセスを重視したデザインを創出しています。私の作品が、世界に新たな価値をもたらすことを願っています。
ハワイ、オーストラリア、インドネシア、モルディブ、日本などでサーフィンするサーファー。海亀と泳ぐのが好き。次のサーフトリップはアイルランド！
